CAMERA SHOTS

What are camera shots?
A camera shot is how much space you see in one shot or frame. Camera shots are used so that they shape the film, and make the audience understand how that person is feeling, or whats happening. It gives the film a clearer understanding, and brings it too life.

Extreme long shot
An extreme long shot shows a huge amount of landscape, this is usually done at the beginning of a film, so that the audience knows were the location is set and were it's taking place. As you can see in this picture you can see the whole of New York. This is an example of a extreme Long Shot because you can see a vast area of land.

Long shot
A long shot is like a setting location it helps set the scene. Sometimes it can have characters like in this image, this image is of a wedding, as you can see it looks like it in the middle of a forest, but from this image you get a more detailed description of the location than from an extreme long shot.

Mid shot
A mid shot contains the character or characters from the waist up.this is normally used in conversation. From this shot you get to see the expressions on the characters faces as well as how they see the other characters as well. Background detail aren't  important in this shot as the location has probably  already been established in a earlier shot.

Close up
The shot shows very little background and  focuses mainly on expressions and emotions of the character’s face, on a prop, In a close up shot the background is usually very blurred and closes in on the object on the screen. As this is a very intimate shot.

Music Analyse 2 - Taylor Swift- Love Story

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xg3vE8Ie_E   - Taylor Swift - Love Story

There are a lot of camera shots that are used in this music video, of of them is a close up of Taylor Swift singing, this is very common in pop videos because the audience get to see the artist singing there song, and it makes the artist closer to the audience by doing this. As well as close ups, they also use medium shots in the music video. They do this so that the audience can see were they are and the location the actors are at, if they didn't use the medium shot then the audience watching the music video will be confused because of the different time eras within the video. There is also a lot of panning at the end when they are meeting up and when he's trying to find her, this is really clearly done in the music video because the audience can see the area and a wider view of the location. Addition they use a birds eye view of the two actors dancing together to show that there is something happening between them, and this is a good way to show it. They also have long shots of when they are at the ball, so that you can see the everyone dancing, then it goes into the birds eye view of the scene so that you see a different angle of the event.

The style of the music video is a simple narrative, the lyrics fits with the video, it tells the story of the actor past life and the audience get the personal feel of Taylor because she narrates it as well. The narrative has a beginning a middle and an end, and it tells a love story about the famous Romeo and Juliet story. The audience is for young teenage girls who want to find the perfect boyfriend, and want to fall in love and live happily ever after. And Taylor Swift does this really well.

Music Video Anaylse 1- Pink - Family Portrait

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSjIz8oQuko  - Pink - Family Portrait

Pink is normally associated with R&B genre. Typical characteristics of a R&B genre are part lip syncing from the artist, and part narrative, close ups of the artist, usually set in night clubs and party animals. All these characteristics are what people associate R&B with.

In the music video there is a young girl which is, a child version of Pink when she was younger. In the video it shows how Pink sees her family, through the eyes of the young girl, also the young girl who is being seen as Pink, lip syncing the song in the video, as well as Pink herself. The lip syncing of the younger Pink and Pink show that, the events and things that happened when she was a child still effects her now when she's an adult. The video is showing how she is still holding onto her past as being a child, and how everywhere she looks if it's on telly or at a photograph, she always sees a perfect family, and her's is far from that.

The editing is really quick having about 3 seconds intervals most of the time, there is close ups of Pinks face and long shots of Pink herself singing so the audience can see the artist.  There is a lot of jump cuts especially when the younger version of Pink is playing with Pink's hair, as well as when they are fighting over the cereal

The representation of the music video is to young children who have been though hard times, though there parents divorce, Pink tries to connect with the audience with the lyrics of the song, which are very moving and have so much power to them. In the lyrics you get the feeling of her being scared and alone with none to go to, and the message that Pink's trying to conflict is that your not alone and that you should talk to your parents instead of suffering in silence.

From the music video as well I see a narrative within it, it's about her life when she was younger and how she seen life as well, being dull and nowhere to turn to but herself, but as you unfold the music video you start to see her getting happier, and start to see what how it's turned her life. Also what I have gathered from this music video is that what Pink really wanted from it all was to have the perfect family, and is jealous when she sees the perfect family in the picture and on the TV advert, it reminds her of what she wanted with her family.

Overal I think this music video is really good, because it portrays the message of Pink and you also see inside her life of how she felt as she grew up, I think the target audience is perfect for this because it gives that a light at the end of the tunnel, saying your not alone and that your not the only one going though the same experience, and I think Pink's music video does this really well.
